Online Purchases – General Terms (FoCE) 

By clicking the “Get tickets” and “Check out” buttons via Eventbrite, “You” (the individual and/or organisation for whom You are making the purchase online) are agreeing to these terms and conditions. By completing and submitting the electronic order form You are making an offer to purchase goods or services, which, if accepted by the Circular Economy Institute (hereinafter referred to as “CEI”), will result in a binding contract. Your card will be debited when You click the “Place order” button in the card payment confirmation area of Eventbrite. Taking payment from Your card does not indicate automatic acceptance of Your order. Should the order be refused, your payment will be refunded. Please read the terms and conditions below relating to Your particular purchase. 
 
1. Cancellation terms 

Cancellation/amendment of any confirmed bookings for events are subject to the following cancellation policy: 

  • Details of all cancellations or amendments requested, including substitute delegates, must be notified in writing to CEI via info@ceinstitute.org. Notification is only valid if received prior to the event/course commencing. 
     
  • If notice of cancellation is received 28 days or more prior to the event/course a 50% cancellation fee will apply; if notice is received less than 28 days prior to the event/course a 100% cancellation fee will apply. Substitute delegates will be accepted but, as stated above, must be notified in writing. 
  • Any amendments, other than substitution, will incur additional fees. 
     
  • CEI reserves the right to change the date, venue, content, speakers and/or timing of an event/course. 
     
  • CEI also reserves the right to cancel events/courses. 7 day’s notice will be given of such cancellation and CEI will make a full refund of fees paid but disclaims any further liability. You are advised not to make confirmed travel/accommodation arrangements more than 7 days prior to an event/course commencing, or until joining instructions have been received. 
     

2. Our Liability 

For the in-person event, event attendees shall be required to keep their personal belongings with them at all times and we accept no liability for damage to, or loss of, personal belongings. We do not accept any responsibility for any loss (including, without limitation, theft) of any property occasioned on our premises or at external venues save for any damage caused by our negligence in which circumstances our liability shall be limited to the amount of our insurance for such losses. 
We will not be responsible to you or any third party for any business loss (including loss of revenue, profits, contracts, anticipated savings, wasted expenditure, data or goodwill) or any other loss or damage which does not result directly from our actions. 
 
Our online products may contain links to other websites. These are provided for your convenience. They do not signify that we endorse those websites. We do not have any control over those sites and have no responsibility for the content on the linked website(s). 
 
Nothing in these online purchase and event booking terms and conditions excludes our liability to you for personal injury or death caused by our negligence. 
 

3. Rights in Materials 

All copyright and other rights (including all intellectual property rights) in materials provided to you during or for the purposes of any of our Events (including, without limitation, course notes, slides, brochures, articles or case studies, e-learning materials) are the property of CEI or of our speakers. You are entitled to use such materials only for your own personal use. You are not entitled to copy such materials (except as permitted by law) nor are you entitled to use or authorise others to use such materials for any commercial purposes.  
 
Whilst we make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of our Course Materials, we do not represent, warrant or guarantee that the Course Materials will be error free. For the avoidance of doubt, we will not refund Course Fees on the basis that Course Materials are not error free, accurate and/or up to date. 
 

4. Photography 

An official photographer will be present throughout the event. Photographs taken may be used by CEI for our marketing and promotional purposes; and to publicise our future events. Images may also be taken by members of CEI staff to be used in press releases, and published in printed and electronic publicity materials, and via our social media online accounts including LinkedIn, X and Instagram. The images will be stored securely, and will be deleted when no longer needed. If you do not wish to be included in any photograph, please notify the photographer at the event. 
 
Please note: CEI is not responsible for pictures taken on their personal phone/camera by other delegates attending the events nor for those images or any comments published by them on social media. 
 

5. Data Protection 

CEI will process the information it receives from you, or otherwise holds about you, in accordance with these Terms and the CEI Privacy Policy. CEI will use such information for purposes including but not limited to: 
a) to process Your order and to provide You with the product You have purchased; 
b) as set out in further detail in CEI’s Privacy Policy.
 
If You would prefer not to receive this communication You can update Your preferences or unsubscribe at any time either by following the link on any CEI email or newsletter; or by contacting us via info@ceinstitute.org.
 
CEI do not share or sell Your data to any third party organisations; but, where strictly necessary, may share data with carefully selected organisations working on CEI’s behalf, including contractors undertaking some data processing. 
 

6. Our Right to Vary these Terms and Conditions 

We have the right to revise and amend these terms and conditions from time to time to reflect changes in technology, changes in payment methods, changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements and to meet our changing business requirement.


You will be subject to the policies and terms and conditions in force at the time that you purchase or place a booking with us, unless any change to those policies or these terms and conditions is required to be made by law or governmental authority (in which case it will apply to bookings previously made by you), or if we notify you of the change to those policies or these terms and conditions before we send you the Booking Confirmation (in which case we have the right to assume that you have accepted the change to the terms and conditions, unless you notify us to the contrary within seven working days of receipt by you of the Booking Confirmation). 
 

7. Force Majeure 

CEI shall assume no liability whatsoever if any of its events, courses or other scheduled activities cancelled, rescheduled or postponed due to an unexpected event, Act of God, unforeseen occurrence or any other event that renders performance of this conference impracticable, illegal or impossible. For purposes of this clause, an unexpected event shall include, but not be limited to: war, fire, labour strike, extreme weather or other emergency. However, in exceptional situations CEI at its own discretion may compensate the individuals for their loss incurred due to force majeure.   
 
8. Law and Jurisdiction 

Contracts for the booking of Our Events or purchasing through Our Site will be governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from, or related to, such Contracts shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
