Melody Carraro

Melody is a leading policy professional in circular economy policy and implementation across multiple resource streams. With extensive experience spanning plastics, waste management, water, biodiversity conservation, and energy systems, she has established herself as a pivotal figure in ecological transformation on both national and global stage.

Currently, Melody serves as Senior Policy Manager at a global water and waste management corporation (Veolia), where she focuses on driving ecological transformation through strategic policy development. Her work involves active engagement with policymakers to shape critical environmental initiatives including simplified recycling systems, Extended Producer Responsibility frameworks, deposit return schemes, energy recovery from waste, and emissions trading systems to name but a few. (Prior to joining Veolia Melody had a career in Australian government, where she spearheaded the state’s groundbreaking plastics reduction policy framework, and has worked in policy on behalf of the UK’s energy sector at Energy UK).

Melody’s unique perspective combines rigorous policy expertise with practical implementation knowledge across the entire value chain, from resource extraction to end-of-life management. Her collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement has earned her recognition as an effective advocate for pragmatic, science-based solutions to environmental challenges.
